What the Fall Kickoff looks like
4–7 PM ET · Miner Building, Howard University
This is not a traditional career fair. There are no rows of booths and no assigned tables. The evening is built around short workshops and real conversations, so plan to spend your time with students, not behind a table.
- No individual tables or booths. Partners share tables set up in a horseshoe around the reception area.
- Bring as much as you like to put out: flyers, one-pagers, job postings, swag. No tablecloths needed.
- Workshop slots are limited (about ten) and fill in the order proposals come in. Propose one when you confirm your participation.
- Enter the Miner Building through the back entrance on 6th Street NW. Parking and rideshare details are on the FAQ.
What registration covers
Everything in the series.
- A place at the Fall Kickoff on November 18, with the option to lead a workshop
- A hosted site visit over the winter, scheduled on a day that works for you
- An information session and interview slots at the Virtual Career Expo on March 17
- A second site visit in the spring for finalists
- A profile on this site that students read before they meet you
- The student list and logistics for every event you join

Register once
Registration runs through Handshake. Check whether your organization already has a Handshake employer account; if not, creating one is free. Register for the fair and one payment covers the year.

Already registered? Confirm how you'll take part
Tell us which touchpoints you plan to be part of, whether you want to lead a workshop in November, and whether you can host a visit. About ten minutes, on this site. You can change your mind later. Nothing is a la carte and nothing costs extra.

Hear from us
The planning team follows up with the dates and your point of contact, then sends the details for each event a few weeks before it happens. Your organization's profile goes up on this site.

Partner questions
Do we have to attend every event?
No. Register once, then choose the pieces that fit. Most partners come to the Kickoff and the virtual Expo and host one visit.
We are not hiring right now. Should we still come?
Yes. Policy organizations, clinical programs, residencies and advocacy groups came in 2026 so students could see the whole field. If your organization has a public mission and no openings, write to Dr. Wiley about a fee waiver.
We are outside the DC area. Can we still take part?
Come to the virtual Expo in March and, if you can, the Kickoff in November. Partners from as far as Massachusetts took part in 2026.
Who are the students?
Undergraduate and graduate students from the Howard University School of Education, plus students from across Howard who are interested in education careers: K-12 teaching and leadership, higher education, counseling and clinical settings, policy and advocacy, and research.
Can we pay by purchase order?
Yes. Seven partners paid by purchase order in 2026. Email Dr. Wiley and Howard will invoice your organization.
